Guide

Why are the prayer times on my website wrong?

The usual causes of out-of-date or mismatched times, and how to fix each.

The times were typed in once and never updated

Hand-typed times go stale quickly, because start times shift every day. Use times that update automatically from a calculation, and keep typing only for the jamaat times your organisation sets.

The calculation method does not match yours

Different methods give Fajr and Isha at different times, and Asr differs between standard and Hanafi. Ask your imam or committee which method you follow, then choose the same one on your site.

The clocks changed

Check the times on the day the clocks go forward or back. If jamaat times were typed in, they need updating by hand that week.

The location or time zone is wrong

A wrong city or time zone shifts every time by minutes or an hour. Confirm the location set for your site is your own town.

Check a few dates every month

Compare three or four dates against the timetable you follow. A visitor who finds one wrong time often stops trusting the rest.

You can try our free prayer times tool to compare a calculation for your city.
