Guide
How to find volunteers through your organisation website
Make it easy for people to offer their time.
Say what you need
List the roles you need help with, such as stewarding, teaching, cleaning, driving and design. Give the time each one takes, so people can picture it.
Make it easy to say yes
Add a short form asking for a name, contact details, the role and when they are free. Keep it to a handful of questions.
Reply quickly and personally
Answer within a few days and name a real person. Early replies keep keen people from drifting away.
Look after safeguarding
If volunteers work with children or vulnerable adults, follow your safeguarding policy and the checks that apply to you, and say so on the page.
Thank people in public
With their permission, thank volunteers on the site and in your newsletter. Recognition is often the reason people stay.
