Guide
How to announce events on your organisation website
Put the key details first, keep the list current and remove past events.
Lead with date, time and place
Visitors scan for when and where. Put the date, start time and location at the top of each event, then add a short description underneath.
Say who it is for and what to bring
State whether it is open to everyone, whether booking is needed, and anything people should bring. This answers the questions you would otherwise get by message.
Keep one list in date order
A single upcoming-events list is easier to maintain than posts scattered across pages. Show the next few events on the home page and link to the full list.
Remove or archive past events
An old event at the top of the page makes the whole site look neglected. Check the list weekly and remove anything that has passed.
Plan seasonal events early
Publish dates for big occasions, such as Ramadan programmes, as soon as they are confirmed, and update the page when details change.
